Here are answers to a few of the most popular questions. We love questions so if you have something else in mind please do get in touch!
Yes, absolutely! Children are welcome to join any level of class they like, the age brackets are just a guide.
Yes. We are always on the lookout for more great tutors so we can offer more subjects. Please do get in touch to let us know what you are looking for
Lx lessons are designed to be relevant to large groups of students so as many as possible can benefit from friendly, professional tuition at home. L1 and L2 will be smaller groups so that more personalised feedback can be given.
Zoom classrooms open at least 15 minutes prior to the advertised start time of a lesson. You are strongly advised to take advantage of this to check everything is working ok. We will help where we can with tech issues but unfortunately can't delay the start of lessons or offer refunds for IT problems. Further info on IT requirements is in the 'How it Works' section.
Our approach is all about partnership: tutors, parents/carers and students all working together. At the end of every lesson a link is provided to a Google doc which will contain a summary of what has been taught and some suggested independent learning activities. More detailed feedback will be provided for students studying at Level 2.
Our L1 and L2 courses are designed to support learning of topics at GCSE level - not to deliver full GCSE courses themselves. This approach has been taken to maximise flexibility and ensure we can fit round a variety of home learning programmes. We can not enter students to GCSE exams, your local college should be able to provide help and assistance with this.
We structure the majority of our L1 and L2 lessons around iGCSE specifications but tutors will also offer lessons relevant to other specifications as well (eg AQA and Edexcel).
We all have a responsibility to ensure that learning can take place in a safe and welcoming environment. All students, parents/carers and tutors engaging with Tutor Led Learning agree to treat each other with respect and not to discriminate against anyone on the basis of age, race, religion, sexuality, gender, ethnicity or in any other way. Anyone not meeting these expectations will not be allowed to attend/host lessons.
All our tutors have been through our registration process which includes providing: proof of a right to work in the UK, two relevant references, DBS certification and details of a UK bank account. We undertake random recording and reviewing of lessons for quality control purposes. Zoom encrypts all audio, video and screen sharing data. No 1:1 sessions are permitted to take place.
We abide by GDPR regulations and hold the minimum amount of data required to identify and contact parents/carers and students for the purposes of delivering live online tuition.
It’s really important to us that you/your child has a good learning experience. Please try and rectify any issues related to lessons with the tutor directly. If you can’t, or aren’t satisfied with their response, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we’ll do what we can to sort things out.
